Values and Issues
It's an historic time for our new city. Our first steps will be among the most important ones in the life of our community. Those holding office will have a precious opportunity to get the city set up on the right foot. We also face many other challenges: over-development, water disputes, and special interests threaten to overwhelm the valley. If these forces continue to run the table -- even after we become a city -- our valley and city will be in jeopardy. Developers are not standing aside after losing the battle for incorporation. They now have candidates running who will roll-over like the commissioners have done to allow unfettered development.
To meet the challenges ahead, we must build on our shared values -- hard work, service, thrift, ethics, and neighborly cooperation. As your representative, I’ll champion the following priorities:
A Strong Start for Our City. Building a new city is a marathon, not a sprint. We must lay a solid foundation for municipal operations—one that’s fiscally conservative and built to last. My focus will be on ensuring continuity of essential services for every resident, while keeping our finances sustainable for generations to come.
Frugal Fiscal Management.Every single taxpayer dollar matters. I am committed to rigorous stewardship of our resources, seeking out cost-effective solutions and making careful, responsible decisions. Waste has no place in our city’s future.
Balanced, Community-Driven Planning. We must honor the Ogden Valley General Plan, listen to residents, and respect property rights. Striking this balance is something our community does best. Protecting water rights—especially for our farmers—is non-negotiable. Requests for rezones shouldn't be automatic, and development should never come at the expense of those who call the valley home today.
Robust Ethics and Transparency. Stronger ethics and conflict of interest policies are essential for trust in government. Our city must set a higher standard than the county, ensuring that every corner of government is open to scrutiny. When issues arise, investigations must be independent and impartial.
Collaboration for a Brighter Future. Success means working together—with neighboring cities, county, state, and federal partners. For too long, Ogden Valley didn’t have a seat at the table. Now that we do, let’s use it wisely—with integrity, respect, and a commitment to cooperation that benefits the entire valley. Together we can build a city that reflects our values and works for everyone.
Let’s get this city started!
